Holistic Pet Care Day is August 30th. We love seeing holistic care practices and products becoming more widespread! Holistic veterinary care options offer pets safe, gentle treatment options that can help with many medical conditions. Things like acupuncture and Chinese herbal therapy which are part of our alternative vet therapies services, do not conflict with modern veterinary techniques: they often work great together. Talk about the best of both worlds!
Have A Massage
Massages are very relaxing, but they are also beneficial. They release stiff muscles, allowing better circulation and range of motion. Schedule massages for both you and your furry best friend!
Improve Your Water Quality
Pure water is another essential component of a good health and wellness regimen. If your tap water isn’t all that great, consider getting a good filter. You can also buy bottled water for your pet. Fido and Fluffy may also appreciate having a water fountain.
Adopt Some Plants
Plants not only help filter the air, they also add a vibrant pop of color to any home. Just be sure to stick with pet-safe options. You can find a great list online at the ASPCA website here.
Take A Walk
This one of course mostly applies to Fido, though of course some of our feline patients may enjoy taking walks on leashes. Fresh air and sunshine will do both you and your canine buddy good!
Reduce Chemical Exposure
There are many small changes you can make around your home that will help both you and your four-legged buddy lead a more holistic lifestyle. Replace harsh chemical cleaners with natural, eco-friendly products, and try to limit the use of plastics.
Enjoy A Healthy Dinner
Good nutrition is key to a great pet care routine. Consider upgrading your pet’s food. Ideally, you want a brand that contains whole, healthy ingredients, and limits chemical additives and preservatives. Fido and Fluffy may both enjoy a special treat. Some plain, cooked chicken, fish, or turkey, without the skin, bones, or fat, is always a good bet. Relax
Stress and anxiety can really do a number on your health. Enjoy some down time with your pet!
